11 Your savior is born today in David’s city. He is Christ the Lord. 12 This is a sign for you: you will find a newborn baby wrapped snugly and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great assembly of the heavenly forces was with the angel praising God. They said, 14 “Glory to God in heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors.”
Common English Bible (Nashville, TN: Common English Bible, 2011), Lk 2:10–14. The angel of the Lord spoke to shepherds guarding their sheep. Wow! what a wonderful picture. Hope had arrived, and good news had come, and heaven was making a major announcement. The Saviour was born in this very city, and it will all be different now. He is going to proclaim glad tidings of joy and a message of grace that would shake the very foundations of civilization itself. Christmas is, in fact, a time of expectation for everyone on earth. For when you receive the Lord, and allow the Christmas story to become your story. Jesus begins to write on the canvas of your life. The old ways become unimportant as God gives you a new mind, spirit, and a song to sing. It's time to rejoice, Christmas has come, with the birth of the Son of God, our Savior, and Lord. Please let Him be the reason you love the season. The gifts we shop for and share are nothing compared to the wonderful Saviour who has given us hope in a seemingly hopeless world. Make Him Lord of your life this season, and you will see your eyes open and your heart alive, as Jesus reveals to you real joy and life. Merry Christmas everyone.
