Talk About A Summer That Is Flying By!!!! Nevertheless, What A Summer We Have Had In His Word.
August 19th, 2014 Proverbs 20:9-11 CEB 9 Who can say, "I’m innocent to the core;I’m cleansed from my sin"? 10 False weights and measures—the Lord detests them both. 11 Even young people are known by their actions, whether their conduct is pure and upright. The last quarter my ( Reverend Vossen's ) neighbourhood fellowship group along with some others, have embarked on a wonderful journey into the book of Proverbs. The gems we have discovered, as well the truths we have unearthed have been of precious gold. I for one am going to be kind of sad when we move on from the book, because it has helped me and challenged me like no other study we have had in a long time. It has hit a variety of real close to home issues in my life, and has made us all reassess what we truly considered Godly wisdom. Many of us for instance, have found that we've been mining fool's gold ( remember that lesson folks!!!! ) as we have cherished our hollow doctrinal badges we have stuck to like a noose around our neck. Choking the very breath of God out of us, as we keep on proclaiming " Hey, but I'm in " The Club " ( the right Church, or the assembly who preaches " The Truth " ). While we deceive ourselves and justify our inappropriate actions, because we had " The Truth ". Believing that if I am somehow in " The Club ", I'm in the sheepfold of Christ and have some magical flag I can wave that can excuses me from every sin, or act arrogance in my life. We looked at biblical characters whose lives fell into this trap, as well personal life experiences this pastor has seen throughout the years. It brought tears to our cheeks and renewed hope that repentance and humility, could bring about a great spiritual change. Bringing to revival that could see the power of God express itself in a supernatural way. Not needing superficial promptings, but holy and practical spiritual yearning from the heart of man. Proverbs taught us the importance of humility and how the spirit of God could make its mark in the life of man. True wisdom can bring us true humility ( 11:2 CEB ), which in turn will allow the lamp of the Lord to shine upon the inner depths of our hearts ( 20:27 ). Let us pray that we will not forget these lessons, and believe God that a spiritual awakening has not just begun in us, but in the Whole Body of Christ as well. Here is the outlines of one of Reverend Vossen's messages for tomorrow. God bless each one of you in the CGMF family. Let's enjoy and have some great fellowship in our Neighborhood Fellowship Groups this Sunday. |
