Letting the Spirit Lead: A Message from Covenant of Grace This past Sunday at our weekly Gathering service at Covenant of Grace in Omaha, I had the privilege of sharing a message that’s been stirring in my heart: “Restricting Ourselves in Order for the Spirit of God to Rule.” It’s a call to intentional surrender—an invitation to lay down our preferences, comforts, and impulses so that the Spirit of God might truly reign in our lives. We explored how spiritual maturity often involves restraint—not as a punishment, but as a pathway to deeper intimacy with Christ. When we choose to limit ourselves for the sake of obedience, we make room for the Spirit to guide, convict, and empower us. This isn’t about legalism or self-denial for its own sake—it’s about cultivating a life that reflects the character and authority of Jesus. If you missed the Gathering or want to revisit the message, I’ve attached the audio recording to this post. I also encourage you to study along with the notes, reflect on the Scriptures shared, and consider how this teaching might shape your walk this week. Whether you’re part of our Covenant of Grace family or simply seeking spiritual nourishment, I invite you to listen, study, and share. May the Spirit of God lead you into greater freedom through holy restraint. Grace and peace, Pastor Vossen
